Our Staff

Our New Day Preschool staff has outstanding qualifications. Each staff member brings a unique combination of experience and education to the New Day team. Our teachers have degrees in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or have the CDA certification. All staff members pursue additional educational opportunities, and all are CPR and First Aid certified. In addition to English, our teachers are fluent in many other languages, including: French, Spanish and Farsi. Each classroom has a teacher and a teacher assistant.

Keshika Dias - Director

Keshika has over 12 years of teaching experience in a variety of early childhood settings working with children from ages two to five years. She has a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Administration, Management and Leadership. She is a firm believer in the importance of creating meaningful learning experiences for children during their early learning years and in the importance of allowing children to engage in free and inventive outdoor play. She is trained to conduct nature-based early childhood classes and enjoys conducting classes in her community. Outside of work, Keshika enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and reading. 

Ms. Bautista - Twos Teacher, Spanish Teacher, Soccer Coach

Mrs. Bautista has been teaching for more than 18 years. She has been teaching at New Day Preschool since 2001. "My passion is teaching. I love to stay up-to-date on child development and to learn new things for my class" says Ms. Bautista. Mrs. Bautista also emphasizes that learning through play is an important factor on how a child can learn and develop in the classroom. During her time at New Day Preschool, Mrs. Bautista has taught 2 and 3 year old classes. She has been involved as a childcare provider for the Latino Outreach Program of the Community Ministries of Rockville in the past years. She is also the head teacher for our Spanish and Soccer Enrichment classes. Mrs. Bautista loves to share the beauty of learning a new language with our students. Being active and having fun are important parts of Mrs. Bautista’s Soccer class. Both of Mrs. Bautista’s children played soccer all their lives and went on to play Division 1 College Soccer. Both enrichment classes help students develop in many ways while having fun. Mrs. Bautista’s hometown is Cartagena, Colombia but she has been living in the United States since 1989. She is married and has two wonderful children that she enjoys spending time with. Mrs. Bautista enjoys cooking, walking her dog, and reading.

Ms. Claudia  - Twos Teaching Assistant

Ms. Claudia holds a BS in Nutrition and Food Science, MS in Science and a PhD in Cellular Physiology.  Born and raised in Mexico City, Ms. Claudia and her husband moved to the US in 2005 for postdoctoral training. After a decade or so in the scientist field she decided to take a break to raise her children.  She first joined the NDP community as a parent volunteer while her own children attended the program. She joined the NDP teaching staff in 2016. Ms. Claudia believes young children need a welcoming and loving environment to learn and thrive in but also rules and clear expectations. She also believes that children are like sponges ready to absorb and learn as much as you put in front of them.  What she loves the most about working with young children is seeing their self-esteem grow as they learn new things or discover that they can be independent. Ms. Claudia also assists with NDP’s enrichment programs, and sees the children’s pride and self-confidence grow when they score a goal at soccer, learn the colors in Spanish or make clouds in a jar.

Ms. Pari - Threes Teacher
Ms. Pari has over 24 years of teaching experience, and has been teaching at New Day Preschool since 2002. She has a BA in Education, an AA in elementary education, a certification in early childhood education, as well as a certification for teaching Farsi as a second language. She is originally from Iran but moved to the US in 1991. "I love the spontaneity of preschool youngsters and being immersed in their amazing world. I feel privileged to have a job where I can work with students" says Ms. Pari.  She has two sons; one in high school and one in college. 

Ms. Martinez - Threes Teaching Assistant
I am a native of El Salvador. I've been in the US since 1989, and have taught for more than 20 years. I also taught in my home country. I have a wonderful husband and one daughter whom I adore. I have a passion for teaching, and I love children and my class. One little-known fact: I taught high school.

Ms. Maria - Fours Teacher

Ms. Maria holds a BA in Elementary Education, a certificate in Early Childhood Education and is also certified to teach Russian. She has many years of teaching experience. Ms. Maria especially enjoys working with young children and find their curiosity and eagerness to learn new things amazing. This is her second year of teaching at New Day Preschool. Ms. Maria is originally from Hungary and has a fifteen year old son who she loves to spend time with.

Ms. Heather - Fours Teaching Assistant, Science Teacher
Ms. Heather has been teaching at NDP since 2012. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a BA in Sociology and earned her MLS from the University of South Florida. She is passionate about fostering early literacy skills and encouraging learning through hands on activities.   She is originally from Texas, but has been calling Maryland home for the past 7 years.  She has two children, with her youngest being a graduate of New Day Preschool.  She enjoys volunteering at her church and at her children's schools, running, baking and crafting.  

Ms. Alba - Pre-K Teacher
“Touching the future” is the way that Ms. Alba describes her job. She has been working as a preschool teacher since 1994. “It has been an amazing experience that I treasure and enjoy every day” says Ms. Alba. She considers teaching young children a wonderful adventure. Ms. Alba has been working at New Day Preschool since 2001. She values its’ diversity and considers it ‘a little piece of heaven’. She considers creativity and imagination to be important components of the preschool experience as well as instilling a love and respect for nature and the environment. She believes that activities such as arts, crafts, and music all play a significant role in the learning process and help children prepare for Kindergarten. Ms. Alba enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, photography, and spending time with my her family, friends, and dogs.


Ms. Debbie - Pre-K Teaching Assistant
Ms. Debbie is a teaching assistant at New Day Preschool. When her son Alec attended New Day as a child, she began volunteering as a substitute. In 2005, she joined the staff as an aide and has worked in classes for both the 2-year olds and the 3-year olds. She is currently an aide in the five-day Pre-Kindergarten class. Debbie loves working with preschoolers. Among her goals for the children is to help them feel safe and loved during their early education experiences. She is dedicated to providing the children with a warm and caring environment. Outside of her work at New Day, Debbie has taught children’s Sunday School classes for the last 15 years. She grew up in Tulsa, Ok., moving to this area in 1999. She and her husband live in Rockville, and in addition to their son have a daughter, Genevieve, and two cats.
