Our Staff


Our New Day Preschool staff has outstanding qualifications. Each staff member brings a unique combination of experience and education to the New Day team. Our teachers have degrees in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or have the CDA certification. All staff members pursue additional educational opportunities, and all are CPR and First Aid certified. In addition to English, our teachers are fluent in many other languages, including: French, Spanish and Farsi. Each classroom has a teacher and a teacher assistant.


Stacy Field - Director

Stacy has over 14 years teaching experience across multiple stages of childhood development. She graduated Frostburg State University with a degree in Early Childhood Elementary Education, and earned her Master’s degree from Hood College as a Reading Specialist, Stacy taught for MCPS for 11 years. She was a long term substitute teacher for Head Start and Kindergarten for a year and was a First Grade teacher for 10 years at Watkins Mill Elementary School. After the birth of her first daughter, she returned to teach Preschool for 4 years. After her twins were born, she took some time off but continued to be involved in education by volunteering in her twin daughters’ Preschool and Elementary classes. Stacy has also been a substitute at New Day Preschool. She is Girl Scout troop leader for her daughters’ Brownie troop. Stacy believes children learn best through play, and is passionate and committed to the education and social emotional development of children. Stacy lives in Rockville with her husband, three daughters, two cats, a Golden Retriever, and flock of backyard chickens. Stacy is looking forward to her first year as Director working with the children, parents, and staff.


Ms. Bautista - Twos Teacher, Spanish Teacher, Soccer Coach

Mrs. Bautista has been teaching for more than 18 years. She has been teaching at New Day Preschool since 2001. "My passion is teaching. I love to stay up-to-date on child development and to learn new things for my class" says Ms. Bautista. Mrs. Bautista also emphasizes that learning through play is an important factor on how a child can learn and develop in the classroom. During her time at New Day Preschool, Mrs. Bautista has taught 2 and 3 year old classes. She has been involved as a childcare provider for the Latino Outreach Program of the Community Ministries of Rockville in the past years. She is also the head teacher for our Spanish and Soccer Enrichment classes. Mrs. Bautista loves to share the beauty of learning a new language with our students. Being active and having fun are important parts of Mrs. Bautista’s Soccer class. Both of Mrs. Bautista’s children played soccer all their lives and went on to play Division 1 College Soccer. Both enrichment classes help students develop in many ways while having fun. Mrs. Bautista’s hometown is Cartagena, Colombia but she has been living in the United States since 1989. She is married and has two wonderful children that she enjoys spending time with. Mrs. Bautista enjoys cooking, walking her dog, and reading.


Ms. Debbie - Twos Teaching Assistant
Ms. Debbie is a teaching assistant at New Day Preschool. When her son Alec attended New Day as a child, she began volunteering as a substitute. In 2005, she joined the staff as an aide and has worked in classes for both the 2-year olds and the 3-year olds. She is currently an aide in the five-day Pre-Kindergarten class. Debbie loves working with preschoolers. Among her goals for the children is to help them feel safe and loved during their early education experiences. She is dedicated to providing the children with a warm and caring environment. Outside of her work at New Day, Debbie has taught children’s Sunday School classes for the last 15 years. She grew up in Tulsa, Ok., moving to this area in 1999. She and her husband live in Rockville, and in addition to their son have a daughter, Genevieve, and two cats.


Ms. Maya - Threes Teacher

Ms. Maya is from Slovakia where she obtained a High School Diploma in Early Childhood Education. She came to the United States in 2001. She holds a Child Development Associate Credential and has completed the 90-hour Early Childhood Development and Curriculum Certification and the 45-hour Infant & Toddler Development and Curriculum Planning Certification. In 2003 she started working at Takoma Children's School where she taught the Twos Class  for 4 years. She later worked at Bright Horizons as a Toddler teacher, but would occasionally also teach different age groups from infants to 5yo.  "Children and teaching have always been a part of my world and I believe that all children deserve a quality education" says Ms. Maya. She loves messy science and art projects, and is very much a hands-on person who believes in learning and exploring through play and our senses. She regularly attends numerous workshops and conferences to keep up with ever changing methods in early childhood education. 


Ms. Alba - Pre-K Teacher
“Touching the future” is the way that Ms. Alba describes her job. She has been working as a preschool teacher since 1994. “It has been an amazing experience that I treasure and enjoy every day” says Ms. Alba. She considers teaching young children a wonderful adventure. Ms. Alba has been working at New Day Preschool since 2001. She values its’ diversity and considers it ‘a little piece of heaven’. She considers creativity and imagination to be important components of the preschool experience as well as instilling a love and respect for nature and the environment. She believes that activities such as arts, crafts, and music all play a significant role in the learning process and help children prepare for Kindergarten. Ms. Alba enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, photography, and spending time with my her family, friends, and dogs.

  

Ms. Martinez - Pre-K Teaching Assistant
Ms. Martinez has been working at New Day Preschool for 19 years. She was born and raised in El Salvador where she worked as a High School Math teacher for several years. At New Day Preschool, she has worked with all three age groups. Ms. Martinez loves being a teacher at New Day; she loves the children and watching them grow over the years.
